The Urban Outfitters West Coast Internet Fulfillment Center

Progress continues on Urban Outfitters' Western United States Internet Fulfillment Center in Reno, Nevada. The Internet Fulfillment Center is located on 38.34 acres of development-ready land in Dermody Properties' Silver Lake Business Park. Dermody Properties designed the 462,720 square foot facility to be USGBC LEED Silver Certified. The Phase 1 building will have over 450,000 square feet of warehouse space, over 10,000 square feet of office space, automated material handling systems and a 24/7/365 data center. United Construction will complete the facility by June 2012, and a future Phase 2 expansion will increase the fulfillment center to 895,360 square feet.

LEED Silver Certification will bring significant tax benefits to Urban Outfitters, whose investment in northern Nevada is estimated to generate more than $3 million in taxes for the state. $1 million of those taxes will be local, 31 percent of which will benefit the Washoe County School District. The project will create 160 direct full-time construction jobs for one calendar year, and an estimated additional 120 related manufacturing, wholesale/retail and service jobs. Urban Outfitters intends to create 150 full-time jobs to staff the facility once the center is complete. The Dermody Properties team worked closely with Urban Outfitters, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval to create economic benefits for all involved parties.

Dermody Properties and United Construction held a groundbreaking event on June 8, 2011 to welcome Urban Outfitters to northern Nevada and celebrate the economic development the Internet Fulfillment Center will bring the region.
